About us
Hi, I’m Laura — the heart behind Tiny Tails Pet Care!
I’ve always had a deep love and passion for animals, ever since I was a child. Over the years, I’ve shared my home with a wonderful variety of animals — each one teaching me something new and deepening my love for all creatures, big and small. I’ve cared for dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, and rats, as well as more unusual companions like a tortoise, stick insects, a horned frog, a snake, and an axolotl. I’ve also kept tropical fish, learning the art of maintaining healthy aquatic environments.
This passion for animals guided my education and career choices. I began my journey by studying Animal Management in college, which gave me a solid foundation in animal care and welfare. During that time, I worked in a pet shop, where I gained hands-on experience caring for a wide variety of pets — from small mammals and reptiles to fish and birds — while helping families find the right companions and care products.
After college, I went on to university to study Animal Behaviour and Welfare (BSc Hons), diving deeper into how animals think, feel, and interact with the world around them. After my academic journey I was able to complete some amazing practical experiences — including a three-month internship at Chester Zoo on the Giraffe and Hoofstock section, where I helped care for some truly incredible species.
I later completed a year-long internship at Chester Zoo in the Small Mammal section, working closely with everything from tiny hoofstock to rodents, and learning just how important the smallest details are when it comes to animal wellbeing.
After this I worked at Blue Planet Aquarium, caring for the freshwater fish and reptile sections. This role has given me invaluable knowledge in aquatic systems, reptile husbandry, and the day-to-day needs of exotic species.
All these experiences have led me to create Tiny Tails Pet Care — a service that combines professional knowledge with genuine love and respect for every animal, no matter how small or unusual. Whether you have a hamster, gecko, tortoise, or tropical fish, you can rest assured they’ll be treated with expert care and kindness.
